SERIE A
Does anyone remember what happened ten years ago, that
shocked Italian (and European) football? Calciopoli.
The corruption scandal that saw a number of teams convicted with the deduction
of points, opened up the Inter dominance and relegated Juventus to Serie B, the
first time the Vecchia Signora would
be out of the main league and, maybe, regress to a mid-table club in the
future…
Nobody remembers that happened, right?
It was just a matter of finding the right man at the
right time and everything went back to normal. Conte arrived at Juve in
2011/12, took the team to an unbeatable title and ensured Juventus reign as the
top team in Italy would be back. And since then it has really been Juve and the
rest, with the Turin team now trying to make its team ready to storm Europe
once again. Allegri has done a great job in replacing Conte and with the
reinforcements they had, it feels the squad is ready to win everything they
can.
SSC NAPOLI
They have been one of the teams that has been able to
put some pressure on Juventus, but they always end up coming short. Last season
Napoli were fantastic in going after the title, led by an in-form Gonzalo
Higuain, so in-form that the champions splashed the cash and took their rivals
main weapon.
Hamsik has now new partners, with particular evidence to Arkadiusz Milik, and with Sarri in charge, Napoli promises to stand its ground as the southern force and try and beat the Old Lady.

Luciano
Spalletti was recalled to its club after Rudi Garcia’s sacking, in January, in
a time where it looked like Roma was going to fail to achieve a Champions
League spot, but Spaletti, along with Totti, were able to bring the team back
to the place it’s been theirs in the last years. They now want to overthrone
Juventus but their start of season was shaky, with the Champions League playoff
going especially disastrously, with a 0-3 loss against Porto, in Rome, a game
where they finished with 10-man.
The League
Juve is already ahead of their main rivals for the
title, as they were the only team able to win their first two games, along with
Genoa and their city rivals Sampdoria. But these teams are punching above their
weight, whilst Juve looks at their direct opponents from above, after two very
hard-fought but well-earned wins against strong opponents like Fiorentina and
Lazio. Napoli and a hiccup in the first match, but they showed their abilities
against AC Milan. Inter started horribly once again, and there doesn’t seem to
be a light for the Nerrazzuri.
