Poland - Lewandowski promises goals

Poland

A very unpredictable team. They always have an attacking fire power but their defense has various ups and downs. When it’s on a good day, though, Poland is a very dangerous team that can beat the strongest teams.
It’s hard to imagine they’ll repeat the glory of the 70s generation, but they’ll surely do better than they ever did in Euro’s, where they never qualified from the group stage.

How they qualified

One of the most enjoyable teams to watch in the qualification. In a balanced group, that an inconsistent Germany made chaotic, the Polish scored 33 goals – albeit 15 were against Gibraltar – and from early on put their name en route to France.
Their defense let them down against some stronger opposition and they lost 1st place to Germany, but their win against the powerhouse showed great promise in a good campaign.

Squad

Goalkeepers: Lukasz Fabianski (Swansea City), Wojciech Szczesny (AS Roma), Artur Boruc (Bournemouth).

Defenders: Thiago Cionek (Palermo), Kamil Glik (Torino), Artur Jedrzejczyk (FK Krasnodar), Michal Pazdan (Legia Warsaw), Lukasz Piszczek (Borussia Dortmund), Bartosz Salamon (Cagliari), Jakub Wawrzyniak (Lechia Gdansk).

Midfielders: Jakub Blaszczykowski (Borussia Dortmund), Kamil Grosicki (Rennes), Tomasz Jodlowiec (Legia Warsaw), Bartosz Kapustka (Cracovia), Grzegorz Krychowiak (Sevilla), Karol Linetty (Lech Poznan), Krzysztof Maczynski (Wisla), Slawomir Peszko (Lechia Gdansk), Filip Starzynski (Zaglebie Lubin), Piotr Zielinski (Udinese).

Forwards: Arkadiusz Milik (Ajax), Robert Lewandowski (Bayern Munich), Mariusz Stepinski (Ruch Chorzow).

Robert Lewandowski
Club : Bayern (GER)
Age : 27 years

Lewandowski is one of those players that, being born 15 years earlier, would be in the dispute for Balon D’or. Unfortunately for him, he lives in the Ronaldo and Messi era, and is only recognized as one of the best strikers of the moment, for the unbelievable amount of goals he scored.
He showed this ability from early on, and since starting playing professionally only once, in his first season at Dortmund, he scored less than 15 goals.
He scored 13 goals in the qualification and will try to do similar in a group stage, and he has the quality for it.

Bartosz Kapustka
Club : Cracovia (POL)
Age : 19 years

19 years old attacking midfielder that plays in Cracovia. If you’ve never seen Kapustka play go and search, because the kid plays well with both feet, is a very smart playmaker with a very unusual maturity for someone its age.
This Euro is perfect opportunity to showcase all his abilities.

Adam Nawałka

Was a very promising player, being selected to best XI of the 1978 World Cup with 19 years old, but injuries ended up hurting his career. As a manager he was a constant presence in the Ekstraklasa until October 2013, when he was appointed to the national team. After a good qualification, Nawałka will try to do as well in France

What to expect from them?

With the two striking forces of Lewandowski and Milik, Poland will have to balance themselves. After all if the attack is fearless, the defense is slow and needs all the protection they can get, with Błaszczykowski and Grosicki being essential to stop the opposition’s wide backs to get forward.
The lack of an experienced creative source might be the opening Kaputska needs to gain a place in the starting XI
