SPAIN
·
The
defeat against Georgia was one of the lowest points of Del Bosque’s managerial
spell at Spain’s national team. Not only they lost but the exhibition was
predictable, boring even, with no spark of imagination to do anything else then
carrousel the ball around the penalty area.
·
If
Del Bosque doesn’t find another solution, Spain might have problems getting out
of the group stage, as it’s a group too balanced to have hiccups.
·
De
Gea’s situation is still unclear, and it might throw Casillas back on the spot
light.
CZECH REP
·
After
a great campaign, Pavel Vrba continued to tweak his team so they’re ready to
face the European champions, and a new
name has emerged at the start.
·
Rosicky
has been brilliantly in the preparation, like he never got injured, and if can
keep up like this, the Czech can definitely achieve something.
·
With
a great keeper in the back, a solid defense and very good offensive transition,
Czech Republic’s fans can expect that, at least, their squad will give it all
in the pitch, in order to get success.

Defense
Two big questions should
be in the mind of Del Bosque, and those would be Casillas or De Gea? Bellerín
or Juanfran? It’s unclear the historic manager is going to go, but it feels
that De Gea deserves the chance to command the troops, and that Bellerin might
be more of an asset for the short passing system Spain works with.
·
Midfield
Everyone knows the
qualities and weaknesses of this players, and that’s both the best and worst
about them. It’s great, because if we know them is because, for years now, they
have wondered us with their pass-and-move mentality so quick and effective. But
after years of watching them, opponents have found a way to counter that, and
Spain has been suffering with it, not being able to fight back.
·
Attack
The importance of men like
Torres or Villa is only noticed when they’re gone. Spain’s lack of finishing
instinct is what has been transforming that enthusiastic style of play, into
something predictable and that leaves Spain in the verge of collapsing on
itself.
Morata has been the choice, and he
can score goals, but it feels it’s a bit short of someone like Costa could’ve
bring to the table.
·
Defense
A very tall and strong defense, they’ll have to be extremely careful not to be caught off guard by the quick movements the Spanish are going to throw at them. Selassie and Limbersky are attack minded full backs, but for this game they’ll have to refrain themselves, to avoid letting to many spaces in their backs.

Midfield
Plásil and Dárida are going to be key to this match. If they are able to constantly pressure the possessor of the ball, when Spain controls it, then Czech Republic can quickly spread the game out wide, and Rosicky can create the chances for an upset. The Arsenal player needs to be protected, with his tendency to injury will make him avoid contact, including defensive ones.

Attack
Necid has a great matchup to shine, if he can get in the middle of the Spanish center backs, as he’s tall enough to create trouble to them. With quick wingers and Spain’s full backs more focused on going forward, the counters have to be fast and effective, and with Rosicky dictating the tempo, you’d feel the Czechs do have a chance.

- FIL’S VERDICT
Look for an upset. Czech Republic’s style of play fits perfectly with Spain’s old way, as Vrba’s teams like to pressure up high and quickly counter with the spaces opened up by advanced full backs.
Del Bosque has been facing many critics since the selection of the squad for France, and the defeat against Georgia, one of the worst in recent memory, has definitely shaken Spanish ego, and they must feel they might need something different to grab wins backs. The real question is, though, do they have that difference in their bag, or is this Spain so homogenous is this way or the highway?
The Czechs will definitely not care with that, try to assure they don’t lose this game and always have a look on the attack, with quick and deadly runs from their wingers, and the pressure they exercise over the 1st phase of construction of the opposition
